Ok so what did the Easter bunny bring you ? it brought me a little weight gain and a rise in blood glucose levels, but it wasn't a shock and I wasn't as devastated as I would have been once, because now I know I have the key to my own self, I know that letting go of the reins occasionally is not going to have me spiraling out of control, like the Type 1 diabetic knows to calculate how much insulin to inject to have that deadly sugar coated doughnut, I know how much carbs I can get away with (not much I can tell you) but I have to say that certain carbs that I thought I would never live without, Bread is one, I just don't miss, but having said that, over Easter I did have some bread, it was either sour dough or Turkish (low to no sugar) but it was still carbs.
I am a carbs-oholic but I don't kid myself and say one carb wont hurt, I believe that carbs are the culprit for the diabetes, and to remain in control of my diabetes I know that every chip or crumb of bread will cause a rise in my BGL's that is just how it is and I accept it, but I don't let it hold me back from joining in the celebrations (like I use to) like I said I have found the key, so when I unleash the carbs-oholic I just use the key to lock it away again, ha ha. I can't blame it all on Easter either, I didn't have any chocolate or crave any chocolate, although I did use some sugar free chocolate chips in the sugar free hot cross buns I made for Easter, they were nice, and made it feel more like Easter in this sugar free home, I think preparing for Andrew's 60th did the bulk of the damage, I decided I liked cocktails and I did indulge in a few, not to mention the food I made, all sugar free of course, but we all know too much of a good thing... well is not good. I knew I needed to get back on the straight and narrow so I started my juice fast again yesterday, Joe Cross calls it a reboot and that is pretty well what it is, I have been following this other "Juice Junkie" Neil Martin, similar story to most of these Juice guru's had health issues and fixed it with Juicing, simple really. I signed up to do Neil Martins guided budget juice fast for 7 days starting next Monday, but to be honest I didn't want to wait another week to get back to scratch, I know it is OK to drop the reins occasionally but I am scared that the bloody horse will bolt, (can you tell I like metaphors?). I think it is only fair that I follow a few Juicers as I do follow a few Sugar Free Guru's and also have a list of doctors that provide the science behind the theories of why it all works. The latest gimmick from the big "Sugar Kings" Pepsi, is the shape of the bottles that they a selling their sugar filled drinks in is shaped like a dumbbell? well they are dumb if they think people are going to fall for this gimmick, and who are they aiming this latest advertising ploy at? it would have to be kids, because surely there is not an adult out there that believes that drinking Pepsi or coke or any other soft drink , energy drinks and fruit juices are going to be good for you? one glass of any of these drinks will put you at your daily limit of sugar intake. It is laughable! On a positive note, one of my favourite actors John Goodman has quit sugar, and look at him now! and another impressive actress Melissa McCarthy has lost a lot of weight also although not much is said about the how, but good for both of these funny thespians, just goes to show you don't have to be fat to be jolly.
