Ok so it is time to fess up, the last post was all about juicing to lower my cholesterol, I had blood tests and took my daily Krill oil capsule, but the results were not as good as I had hoped or thought they would be, my cholesterol had gone up to 6.4, and my doctor knowing that my diet had consisted of vegetable juices for the previous month said that it just may be my genetics! or maybe it is the stress that I was under trying to get it down to a more pleasing number than 6? but either way it was what it was, and I had more important things to prepare for, Oh the doctor did write me a script for "Lipidil" supposedly a non Statin cholesterol drug, and his parting words were to have a think about getting the script filled! No I haven't had the script filled, I looked up the side affects and apparently it is not that good on the old Liver, and considering that I give my liver a bit of a work out with the alcoholic beverages that I consume, I am thinking I may not push my luck.
November 6th 2016, the day I boarded the Legends of the Sea's for my first ever cruise and the first real holiday we have had in over 10 years, it was exciting and I was awe struck, there was a lot of lining up and lots of hoops to jump through and it was hot and the stress was building but just when I thought we were about to bust, I found us on the boat and having lunch, and I didn't think about sugar free or juicing for the next 7 days, it was the best time and so relaxing even though we were busy following the daily schedule of activities and bands and of course there was a lot of cocktail drinking. The only thing I can say in my defense is I didn't over eat, they did have sugar free desserts on the menu and on the buffet, and 9 out of 10 times I chose that option, I think that a particular cocktail "Mudslide" was the real culprit, but they tasted so good and we had an unlimited drinks package so there was nothing restraining me except the amount of liquid I could actually consume. Having said that I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had only gained 1.7 kilo in the week of the cruise, I had heard some people say they gained about 5 kilo, but my blood sugars doubled and although I have been 90% juicing this week, and managed to get my weight back down, the Blood sugars have remained a little high, so I will have to have at least one week going the full Monty on the Juicing to get it back down to the 5's. I have found it strange now to adopt my previous routine and diet after just one week of eating 3 times a day and having my main meal at the same set time each night, there was even two occasions on the boat that we had breakfast before 7 am, that just doesn't happen in this house as we adopt the intermittent fasting, where there is at least 14 - 16 hours between the last meal at 8 pm at night and the first meal the next day, this also helps with my diabetes and I have found that I am not hungry. so another myth that breakfast is the most important meal of the day! (not for this little black duck). I hope you all watched 60 minutes the other night and heard Peter FitzSimonds tell his story how he quit sugar and lost 45 kilo, well I am impressed and inspired, but I still like to have an alcoholic drink on occasions so I wont be quitting my social drinking, but I will be taking up my stance on Sugar Free and back to the Juicing regime, and hopefully I will have some pleasing results to share with you in the next post, especially as they have become few and far between. Stay Calm and Juice!
