It has been nearly a year since my last post and although I have had bouts of juicing, I haven't actually gone the full Monty like the first time I juiced for 28 days, which got some fantastic results , and I have to say the bouts of juice fasting have helped to keep me well and keep most of the weight off, until recently, I say recently but in reality it has been almost a year also. I have been off medication for my diabetes for over a year nearly two actually, and you could say I took my eye off the ball and the diabetes started to rebound, plus I went on a couple of cruises and a few outings had a good time not thinking about my health issues. I always thought I had that magic key on hand to get myself back on track, but the shit hit the fan last month when I went back to the doctors to see how well/bad I had been... To say the doctor was not happy with me is an understatement, and basically told me off saying that if I wasn't going to take the meds he prescribes then there is no point in me seeing him? I suppose on one hand he has a point but on the other, I have been seeing this doctor for more than 24 years and although he is still under the impression that saturated fats cause heart attacks and strokes, he use to listen to what I had to say and was always happy with me and for me, when my numbers were good. I agreed to go back on diabetic medication, but I asked for a particular one that a friend was on, who was having good results, he agreed to let me try it, plus he wrote out his script for cholesterol tablets (Lipidil) and then decided to take my blood pressure and guess what it was up, so he wrote a script for blood pressure medication, Now I am not trying to tell the doctor how to do his job but the last time I went to see the doctor and he thought my blood pressure was a little high, I did a months worth of readings twice a day and took it in to him and he said that I must have "white coat syndrome" but this time he writes a script with out even discussing it. I came home a bit shaken from all that had gone down at the doctors and decided to start doing my home blood pressure checks and it was normal, so I am not taking the BP meds, I never had any intentions of taking the cholesterol medication, I can not find one promising thing said about cholesterol medication unless you are male over 60 and have had a heart attack, so that is another no for me, then I discovered instead of the diabetic medication I asked for (Jardiamet) he has given me "Janumet" I am taking them, at least until I go back to the doctors in November and hopefully switch to the ones I requested. So for me at the moment it is back to square one, and juicing like my life depends on it, not really but a bit of drama helps to motivate me, I am going to go hard on juicing with minimal fruit in the juices, it makes it a bit harder this time, even though there was minimal fruit in the first juice fasting we did, after we finished that fast, I started to make the juice with a bit more fruit and then I fell in love with smoothies, which when I think back we had 3 smoothies in total in the 28 day fast, and as much as the people that think they are in the "know" say that fruit is natural so it is good for you, it is still very high in fructose "Sugar" and should be limited especially if you are trying to get your numbers down, and I am all about the numbers ha ha. So I,m back and I,m juicing, and I am blogging which also helps keep me motivated. Stay Calm and Juice
