Haven't had much time to write a blog, in the last couple of weeks, for us this is party month, and to say I have thrown caution to the wind, is slightly understated, I am trying to be good when I am home but when I am out, I am enjoying myself, and have taken a liking to "Cocktails" well this isn't a new thing really, I have had a few cocktails when dinning on the Captain Cook Cruises, and I had home made cocktails for Andrew's 60th birthday party, but just recently I realized that the Cocktail hour or "Happy Hour" in Sydney is very popular, and so wanting to try everything, we did a little bit of a "Cocktail Crawl", my new favourite past time when in Sydney ha ha. Lucky for me I will be re-visiting Sydney again this month, it is rather indulgent of me, but having the key to my health as I mentioned in previous posts, means I know how far I can push myself, and to keep my script writing doctor at bay, I keep on top of what I should and shouldn't have.
Having said that, this month is particularly challenging for me, as we have something happening each weekend, and besides this weekend being my birthday, we are bringing my girl home from UNI, she is all done and dusted, a qualified educator and we couldn't be prouder! But the challenge is to keep my weight down, my blood glucose levels below 5 and appease my doctor who seems to think a cholesterol reading of 6 is high, I know I can get mine down to 4.6 because that is what it was 12 months ago, yep another celebration 12 months ago we embarked on our first ever Juice fast and went for a staggering 28 days, at the time it wasn't that staggering but looking back at how disciplined I was, I didn't so much as have a tic tac and the results paid off, got a glowing report from my doctor and felt 20 years younger. I have fasted off and on for the last 12 months and always happy with the results, it is like I know what to do and I do it, I am not perfect and I am tempted, but if I needed to, I know I would resist the temptations, I am stubborn like that ha ha, anyway as I said I have set myself a challenge to return to the doctor for another glowing report, this time I am concentrating on my cholesterol readings, I am taking a daily Krill Capsule, because "Dr Mercola" a guru of ours, says it is good, and also that is what I was doing 12 months ago, and since I haven't really done much else other than the occasional (very occasional) meal out, I have been juicing and eating healthy sugar free foods. So October or Juicetober is going to be my go hard or go home month, it is the month where I will be putting my convictions to the test, I will be juice fasting like my life depends on it, and what perfect time to do it too, as we have nothing on in October but it will get me ready to go Cruising, watch this space for updates on my Juicetober I will let you all know if it is as easy as the first Juice fast or harder. This is a spur of the moment post, as I was heading towards my computer meaning to do some work on a local website, I thought I just have to mention a couple of things that have pleased me this week and it is only Tuesday so it is all looking good. Firstly I have been Juice fasting for 9 days, and everything is on track and going well, the whole purpose to this fast was to get my blood sugars back down from the previous eating binge, and I say binge because I have noticed in myself, that while I am just juicing I am fine heaps of energy, don't feel hungry and everything is good, but when I come off my fast and start to eat, it is like opening a flood gate. It seems I can't eat enough or get it into me quick enough which, is starting to make sense to me now after 12 months of doing juice fasts, my body enjoys the Juice and is nourished by all the nutrients that are provided by the juice, but the same amount of nutrients can't be gained by eating solids, and my body is wanting me to keep feeding it the nutrients, so in a sense when I am fasting I am feeding my body and everything is good and happy [smiley face] but when I come off the fast and start eating solid foods, I am starving my body of the nutrients it has come to thrive on. I will have to devise a perfect partnership in maintaining juicing with solids to keep my body happy and most of all healthy, anyway I have digressed, the status of my current fast is BGL down from 15.1 to 6.2 (don't tell the doctor it was that high, he will start writing a script) weight down 4 kilo so that is good and I am pleased. We have started using our new blood pressure monitor and I am pleased my blood pressure is good! Last week I bought a new bowling ball, and played with it for the first time last night and I was pleased with my score (we are coming 4th so a double pleased there). Best Score of the week was, went in search of a bag for my new bowling ball yesterday, Crystal spotted one in LifeLine, a small red bag with a bowling ball inside, which cost the grand sum of $1 yes that is one dollar that has to be the bargain of the century and they say it is only a bargain if you need it well I needed the bag and the ball I found out this morning (weighed it on the wii) is the same weight as my brand new ball. I am so very pleased indeed. But that is not all, my eldest daughter picked up a Juicing book for me at a garage sale on Saturday for 10c, on closer examination of the book I am so pleased if has a wealth of information it is set out in an easy to read format, it is exactly the Juicing book I want. We are very fortunate and pleased to have a generous friend who owns and orchard that dropped off a few bags of Lemons, Oranges, Mandarins, grapefruit, some beets and half a pumpkin, and when I say bags I am talking 20kilo bags, so I am also pleased that I could send some home with Crystal to share with her sister in-law too. And just when you think you couldn't be more pleased with this weeks outcome, I have just heard my youngest daughter has received her Accredited Teaching Number I am so pleased her hard work at UNI for the last four years has paid off. And you will be pleased that this is the end of the post... Stay Calm and Juice! |
